PEER REVIEW PROCESS

  1. The Editorial Board reserves the right to preliminary assessment of a submitted text in terms of compliance with the subject matter and profile of the journal. Approved articles will be then subject to review.
  2. Any text inconsistent with the editorial principles used in "Zeszyty Łużyckie" will be returned to its Author for revision and correction. Subsequently, two external Reviewers affiliated elsewhere than with the Author’s parent unit, are appointed by the Editors. The Reviewers are experts in the field of study to which a given article is devoted.
  3. The Reviewers are asked to prepare an anonymous review using the form available online via the Journal’s website. The Editors ensure (e.g. via removing names or initials of respective Authors from the reviewing copies) that in the course of the reviewing process, the Author and the Reviewer remain anonymous, and that any information regarding the Author’s identity do not influence the Reviewer’s assessment.
  4. The responsibility for plagiarism detection in articles lies with the reviewers, who use their expert knowledge to check the text's consistency with previously published works, verify the accuracy of citations and references, pay attention to writing style consistency, and compare fragments with literature in the relevant field.
  5. The text is approved for publication by the Editorial Board basing on the two reviews. In the case of conflicting reviews, the Editors may consult the Academic Council to appoint a third reviewing party whose assessment shall be binding. The final decision is taken by way of a vote including the Academic Council, the Editorial Board, and the Editors of the issue in question.
  6. The reviewing process is based on the principle of double-blind peer review: the Authors’ data is not disclosed to the Reviewers and vice versa. Reviews are concluded by an explicitly phrased recommendation (with potential indication of corrections found necessary by the Reviewer) or rejection.
  7. The Editors shall notify the Author of the approval/rejection of the article and present them with the Reviewer’s comments. Complying with the Reviewer’s recommendations is a prerequisite for the article’s admission for publication.
  8. The Author’s consent to publish the article in print also confirms their consent for online publication.
