Marcin Filipowicz, professor at the Institute of Western and Southern Slavic Studies, University of Warsaw. His research focuses on nineteenth- to twenty-first-century Czech and Slovak literature and culture, memory studies, family history, masculinity studies, and gender studies. He has also been affiliated for many years with academic institutions in the Czech Republic, including the University of Hradec Králové and Charles University in Prague. He is the author of, among others, Urodzić naród. Czeskie i słowackie pisarstwo kobiece II poł. XIX wieku (Giving Birth to a Nation: Czech and Slovak Women’s Writing in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century) (2008), „Panowie bądźmy Czechami, ale nikt nie musi o tym wiedzieć…”: Wzorce męskości w kulturze czeskiej XIX wieku (“Gentlemen, Let Us Be Czechs, but No One Needs to Know About It…”: Models of Masculinity in Nineteenth-Century Czech Culture) (2013), and Configuring Memory in Czech Family Sagas: The Art of Forgetting in Generic Tradition (2022).
