Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the way Katarzyna Jackowska-Enemuo uses the fairy-tale convention to narrate death in her work Tkaczka chmur [The Cloud Weaver] (2021). The author of the book uses a formulaic narrative, incorporating motifs of weaving and the initiatory quest for the golden apple, and further enriches these with insights into the emotional realm. By combining fairy-tale elements and psychological reflections, she crafts a story about dying and coping with grief. This approach not only invites readers to join the protagonist’s journey but also engages them in the narrative, which bears the hallmarks of a performative text.
