CODE OF ETHICS

Rules on text reviewing

  1. Upon receiving a text, the Editorial Board (a member of the Editorial Board and the Editor-in-Chief of "Poradnik Językowy") pre-qualifies the text in terms of its compatibility with the journal's profile.
  2. The article is reviewed by two external reviewers. External reviews are anonymous (we maintain the principle of anonymity for authors and reviewers.
  3. In accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, reviewers are required to sign a declaration of no conflict of interest between the reviewer and the author.
  4. Reviews are in written form and a review form is used. Reviews end with an explicit conclusion on whether the text is accepted for publication (possibly with an indication of any corrections that the reviewers consider necessary) or rejected. The reviewer may additionally justify his or her decision in a descriptive manner.
  5. Texts that need to be corrected, completed or that do not comply with the journal's editorial policy are sent by the editors to the authors for correction, completion.
  6. If one review is negative and the other is positive, the text is sent for a third review.
  7. The acceptance or non-acceptance of a text for publication is decided by the Editorial Board on the basis of a review.
  8. Eligibility criteria: original articles in line with the profile of "Poradnik Językowy" that have received two positive reviews documenting the substantive, methodological and linguistic-stylistic level will be accepted.
  9. The names of the reviewers collaborating with the journal in a given year are published on the journal's website and/or in issue 10.
  10. Authors of articles do not pay any fees for the submission and publication of texts in "Poradnik Językowy".

 

Ethical standards

The Editorial Board of "Poradnik Językowy" follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and those contained in the Code of Ethics for the Scientific Worker (PAN 2020). Any ethical issues regarding publication will be dealt with in accordance with these guidelines.

Authors

  1. The authors report all persons who participated in the creation of the article. Authorship of the article is based on: significant participation in the initiation of the scientific idea, conception and design of the research, significant participation in the acquisition of data, in the analysis and interpretation of the results obtained, and significant contribution to the drafting and writing of the article or its critical revision from the point of view of intellectual content.
  2. It is advisable to specify the nature of the authors' contributions when indicating their affiliations. The editors of 'Poradnik Językowy' kindly request that the actual contribution of co-authors to the publication be disclosed (including their affiliations and information on who authored the concepts, assumptions, methods, etc. used in the preparation of the publication). This obligation is on the person submitting the text to the editor.
  3. The order of names should follow the custom of the scientific discipline and be accepted by all co-authors.
  4. Financial support received, as well as other types of support for the research resulting in the article, should be marked accordingly.
  5. Re-publication of significant parts of the work can only be accepted with the approval of the editors and a reference to the first publication of the work must always be given.
  6. Authors are required to submit a statement on the originality of the texts.

 

Reviewers

  1. Reviewers do not undertake the task of evaluating scientific papers when it is beyond the scope of their scientific experience and competence.
  2. Reviewers involved in the evaluation of publications should refuse to participate in the evaluation process in all those cases where there is a conflict of interest between them and the person being evaluated.
  3. Reviews and opinions, both positive and negative, should be meticulous, accurate and objective, and assessments should be well-grounded.
  4. Reviewers of scientific publications should keep their opinions confidential until these publications appear in print.
  5. Neither reviewers nor editors of scientific papers may use the data or concepts contained in the texts provided to them without the author's consent.

 

Editorial Board and Publisher

  1. The members of the Editorial Board of "Poradnik Językowy" are committed to confidentiality, both regarding the content of submitted and unpublished articles and information about the review process. They are only made available to authors and reviewers.
  2. Members of the Editorial Board of "Poradnik Językowy" will not use information from unpublished articles in their texts without the consent of the authors.
  3. The editors publish corrections and comments on published articles and polemics in a special section of the journal.
  4. Texts are available under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
