Poradnik Językowy

"Poradnik Językowy" was founded in 1901 by Roman Zawiliński, a professor at a secondary school (gimnazjum) in Kraków. He was the editor and publisher of the journal. "Poradnik Językowy" is one of the oldest Polish linguistic periodicals. It publishes works in the field of Polish linguistics, Slavic and general linguistics, as well as speech therapy and glottodidactics.

Thanks to the great dedication of its editors and those who cooperated with them, 'Poradnik Językowy' played a very important social role in various periods of Polish history: during the partitions, in the interwar period, after World War II and in the period of political transformation. It provided a forum for the exchange of ideas, theories and views for linguists and a wide range of people for whom the issues of the Polish language were particularly important. The authors of the texts published in the journal were the most prominent Polish linguists.

In 1932, the journal was moved to Warsaw and became the organ of the Society for the Correctness of the Polish Language (from 1934 the Society for the Promotion of the Correctness and Culture of Language, today the Society for the Culture of Language).

The publication of the journal in 2022–2024 is co-financed by the Minister of Education and Science as part of the ‘Development of Scientific Journals’ programme (agreement no. RCN/SP/0607/2021/1).
The amount of funding received is PLN 51,000.
The aim of the project is to implement measures aimed at improving publishing and editing practices, increasing the journal's impact on the development of science, and further enhancing the journal's prestige in the international scientific community. The project implementation period is 24 months.
