RESEARCH DATA AND REPRODUCIBILITY

The Journal supports the principles of Open Science and encourages Authors to share the research data underlying the results presented in their articles. Depending on the nature of the research, such data may include, among others, source materials, text corpora, field documentation, interview transcripts, archival materials, photographs, recordings, descriptions of research methods, and other resources that enable the verification, interpretation, or reuse of research findings. The Journal encourages Authors to make such materials available in widely used formats and, where possible, in a manner that ensures their long-term accessibility, allowing other researchers to access and reuse them.

The Journal supports the FAIR Data Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) and encourages Authors to share research data and supplementary materials through institutional, disciplinary and general-purpose repositories, as well as on personal and institutional websites.

The Journal also supports the TRUST Principles for digital repositories and encourages Authors to deposit research data in repositories listed in the OpenDOAR directory. When selecting a repository, Authors should comply with the guidelines of their institution and, where applicable, those of the research funding body.

Authors are also encouraged to cite research data in their manuscripts or provide information on how the data can be accessed by including a DOI, accession number, or another persistent identifier.

The Journal encourages Authors to make the Version of Record (VoR) or the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) available together with the research data associated with the publication.

Sharing research data is voluntary unless it is required by the research funding body, applicable legislation, or the conditions of a research project. Where ethical considerations, personal data protection, archival restrictions, or other legal limitations apply, Authors may restrict access to research data or refrain from making them publicly available.

ARCHIVING

The Editorial Team maintains a long-term archiving policy to ensure the permanent availability of all published content. Accordingly, all articles published in the Journal are archived on the servers of the University of Warsaw and remain permanently accessible through academic resources.

All printed back issues of "Zeszyty Łużyckie" (Vols. 1–55) have been digitised and are available in the Archive section of the online journal platform of the Faculty of Polish Studies, University of Warsaw. Printed copies are also available in library collections, including the Library of the Institute of Western and Southern Slavic Studies and the National Library of Poland.

Issues published exclusively in digital format (from Vol. 56 onwards) are available in the Archive section of the online journal platform of the Faculty of Polish Studies, University of Warsaw, and are regularly deposited in the Biblioteka Nauki (Library of Science) repository and indexed in the CEJSH database.

OPEN ACCESS AND FEES

“Zeszyty Łużyckie” is published as an Open Access journal. All publications are made available online immediately upon publication and are accessible free of charge, without subscription fees, paywalls, or registration requirements.

Authors are not charged any fees for submitting, processing, editing, or publishing their manuscripts. The Journal does not levy Article Processing Charges (APCs) or any other publication fees.

Readers may freely read, download, use and share published materials in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING

The Journal publishes all materials under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, which permits users to share and adapt the published content, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s).

“Share” means copying and redistributing the article, in whole or in part, in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes.

“Adapt” means remixing, transforming, and building upon the published material for any purpose, including commercial use.

Users may freely access, use, share and adapt published articles, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original publication and that no legal terms or technological measures are applied that would restrict others from exercising the rights granted by the licence.

Authors retain copyright to their published works.

Authors grant the Journal a non-exclusive licence to publish their articles.

ONLINE FIRST

Articles are published in the Online First model within 30 days of the completion of the peer-review and editorial processes, ensuring rapid dissemination before publication in a complete journal issue.

Articles published in the Online First mode constitute the official Version of Record and may be cited before the publication of the complete issue.

A persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is assigned to every article published in the Journal.

POLICY ON THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

The Editorial Team of "Zeszyty Łużyckie" and the Publisher recognise that artificial intelligence (AI) may serve as a valuable tool in the preparation and editorial processing of scholarly publications. However, ultimate responsibility for the content of a publication always rests with an Author. Accordingly, the Journal permits the use of AI-based tools, including Large Language Models (LLMs), chatbots, and image generators, at different stages of the publication process, provided that their use complies with the principles of research integrity, transparency, and confidentiality. Regardless of the tools used, Authors remain fully responsible for the content of the submitted manuscript. The use of such tools does not relieve Authors of their full responsibility for the content, scientific integrity, originality, and the manuscript's compliance with the Journal's Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

Guidelines for Authors

Authors may use AI tools to assist with language editing, improving readability, translation, or organising information. AI tools must not replace independent scholarly judgement, the research process, or the interpretation of research findings, nor may they be listed as authors or co-authors of a publication.

Authors bear full responsibility for the final content of their manuscript, including any parts prepared with the assistance of AI tools, as well as for their scientific accuracy, originality, and compliance with the Journal’s publication ethics.

Authors are required to disclose the use of AI tools when submitting their manuscript. Where such tools have been used, Authors should specify the name of the tool, its purpose, and the extent of its use, and include this information in the first footnote of the submitted manuscript.

Guidelines for Reviewers

Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of all materials received from the Editorial Team and should therefore not upload manuscripts or any part of them to publicly available AI tools.

AI tools may be used solely for technical assistance, provided that this does not result in the disclosure of confidential manuscript content. Scholarly evaluation requires critical thinking, independent judgement, and personal responsibility, and therefore cannot be delegated to AI tools.

Guidelines for Editors

The Editorial Team does not use AI tools in the scholarly evaluation of submitted manuscripts or in making editorial decisions regarding their acceptance or rejection. Final responsibility for all editorial decisions rests with the Editorial Team.

The Editorial Team recognises that critical thinking, independent interpretation, and the responsible judgement of researchers are fundamental to scholarly activity and cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence.

The Editorial Team reserves the right to request additional information from Authors regarding the use of AI tools whenever this is necessary to assess the manuscript’s compliance with the principles of research integrity.
