The essay examines the reaction of the so-called Abrahamic religions to the “project of enlightenment”, i.e. the philosophical, political and cultural changes that took place in the 18th century and were intensified in the 19th century. e Abrahamic religions respond to the Enlightenment both by creating various internal currents (liberal, centrist, fundamentalist) and by seeking anti-modern alternatives, which can be seen most clearly in contemporary Islam in its radical vein. In general, the Abrahamic religions have shown themselves to be adaptable to change, which can be observed even today.
