Prus’s view on inter-relations between the nations that used to form the multinational and multicultural Republic of Poland (Poles, Lithuanians, Ukrainians) is presented and discussed in the paper. The evaluation of the current state of these affiliations at the time of the awakening of their autonomous national identities sense and the rise of separatist tendencies is proposed. Acknowledging the right of small nations to define their identities, Prus was concerned about arising conflicts, which could benefit solely the occupant superpowers.
