Abstract

The author focuses on the teaching of values and the formation of empathetic at titudes in the youngest audiences through engagement with zoothanatopedagogical literature. The article also addresses openness to the experience of the ‘Other’ as well as the emotionality of the reader. The conclusions drawn from the analysis and interpretation of selected works clearly indicate that their authors present a full spectrum of issues related to the teaching of attitudes and values. The analysis further reveals a genuine need to adapt literary texts to the needs of children undergoing cultural and axiological formation, for whom death constitutes a form of initiatory and cultural experience.
